The Best Mini Events To Attend This Summer

The summer is a great time to get out and about – more so when you’ve got a classic car to drive around! With the Mini being one of the most culturally significant cars out there, ownership of one provides you with a ‘ticket’ to a wide range of fantastic events throughout the year – many of them held during the summer.

Whether it’s meeting events, exhibitions or rally competitions, such occasions allow likeminded people the opportunity to get together and celebrate the ownership of their classic cars. With plenty of Mini specialists at these events giving advice and selling Mini accessories, attendees can brush up on their Mini knowledge and attain all of the things they need – having a great time whilst doing so.

The added attraction to this year’s events is undoubtedly the classic Mini celebrating its 60th birthday in 2019. So in this blog, we’re going to look at which events Mini fans of all ages have got left to look forward to this year.

Leading Suppliers of Mini Accessories

Here at Mini Sport, we have been supplying Mini parts and accessories since the heyday of this automotive marvel. In that time, we have built up a leading reputation in the industry, not just for the quality of the parts and spares we source and manufacture, but also for the community we’ve created too.

The events we hold/or are involved in, help to group many Mini enthusiasts together to celebrate everything that encompasses what being a Mini owner is all about (which as you know, isn’t just about the driving experience!)

If you’re attending any Mini events this year (see below), why not show your support with some high-quality Mini accessories? Amongst our range, we have several Mini merchandise items, including (but not limited to) classic Mini apparel – from polo and t-shirts to baseball caps, overalls and sweatshirts. Our items have been created by Castrol, Paddy Hopkirk Mini and our own Mini Sport brand.

This Summer’s Mini Events

The Culmination of the 2019 HRCR Mini Sport Cup.

Being Mini rallying enthusiasts, we love to attend and participate in heritage rally events – we even sponsor HRCR’s Old Stager Championship – and the end of summer will see the exciting culmination of the 2019 HRCR Mini Sport Cup.

Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September will potentially see the destination of the Championship all-but decided, with TWO rounds being held as part of The Tour of Flanders. With over 200kms of closed roads in Northern Belgium to negotiate, it will certainly make for an entertaining weekend of rallying!

The 2019 Mini Sport Cup draws to a close with The Cheviot Stages Rally in Northumberland. Held on Sunday 22nd September over 60 miles of the challenging (and closed-to-the-public) terrain of the famous Otterburn Ranges, this is the ideal event for any lover of pure rallying tenacity to attend. So why not come along to any of these events? They’re a great excuse to show your support with the latest Mini accessories in what will be the last classic heritage rallies of the Mini’s 60th year.

The Mini at 60th Birthday Party at IMM 2019.

Held from Thursday 8th through to Monday 12th August, the 2019 International Mini Meeting will be returning to the UK for the first time in five years (apt really, considering it’s the 60th Birthday of the Mini!)

Taking place at Washingpool Farm, Easter Compton, near Bristol, Mini owners from around the world will be gartering to celebrate all things Mini. Amongst the many trade stalls, displays and merchandising, there will be special events, such as Sunday’s ‘huge birthday party show’ that the IMM promise will be ‘slightly different’ from their usual format and day visitors will be allowed to come along and view.

Mini Sport are proud to be a main sponsor of the event and as such, we’ll be having our own stand at the event, offering out Mini servicing advice or just being available for some general Mini chat! If you’re interested in ordering any Mini accessories and parts from us, you can collect them from the show itself – saving you having to pay for shipping. If you order by 12pm on Tuesday 6th August, we will bring the order with us and you can collect from our stand. You can find out more about this special service in our dedicated blog post.

The showpiece of our stand will our dedicated display of ‘Works Minis’ along with several former BMC competitions department personnel – presenting a rare opportunity for enthusiasts to come and see a Works Mini in the flesh and meet the drivers, co-drivers, mechanics and managers behind them. Do stay tuned to our Facebook page for confirmations of who will be attending our special display – and let us know whom you would like to meet.

BMC Mini Fest 2019.

Sneaking into the summer with a cheeky week in hand is the British Motor Club’s annual ‘Mini Fest’ at Stanford Hall in Leicestershire. Held on Sunday 15th September, Mini Fest is a fantastic event aimed at all of the family to celebrate all things Mini. The grounds of the historic building will see the largest gathering of both classic Mini’s and modern MINI’s (just to emphasise how the classic Mini is better, obviously), along with many more fantastic displays and special guests.

The Mini Sport team attended last year and will do again this year, with our own stall offering out all of advice, assistance and sales for any Mini parts and spares you need. So if you’re interested in coming along, please feel free to say hello and ask us any questions you may have about your own Mini.
