Team Mini Sport’s Stuart Shaw at the Special Olympics!

Winning at the Special Olympics!

Stuart poses with the torch one the train on the way to the games in Dublin

Here at Mini Sport, Classic Minis are our passion – however  we also love to celebrate the talents and achievements of our Team of Mini Specialists across the board.

We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to a member of Team Mini Sport – Stuart Shaw, who has done extraordinarily well at the Special Olympics in Ireland!

If you’re a regular on the Mini show scene, you may have already met Stuart, who often attends with Mini Sport at Mini Action Day and Causeway Coast Mini Club’s August Weekend.

Over the weekend of the 14th – 17th of June, Stuart competed in the Bocce events – Bocce is a precision ball sport, not too dissimilar to indoor bowls, that is unique to the Special Olympics.

Taking part in both singles and doubles matches, Stuart won medals in each – Silver in singles & Bronze in doubles…

Well done Stuart!

We hear that the singles match was particularly riveting & quite a close one – we look forward to Stuart sharing his Bocce skills with us at the upcoming shows!

The Special Olympics

Special Olympics changes lives. Special Olympics Ireland is first and foremost a sports organisation for people with an intellectual disability, but it provides athletes with far more than the physical benefits of sport.

It’s about fun, friendships and team spirit; it’s about a feeling of belonging, and ultimately improving quality of life. Special Olympics changes lives in so many different ways.

Through sport, athletes develop both physically and emotionally, they make new friends, realise their dreams, and know they can fit in.

Special Olympics enables them to achieve and win not only in sport but in life too.

Please see the Special Olympics website to find out how you can donate.
