Mini Action Day Supported by Mini Sport Celebrates Mini 60 With Sensational 2019 Show

Saturday once again saw the UK’s oldest, best and only track based Mini Show, Mini Action Day in association with Mini Sport at Castle Combe Circuit in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Our pop-up Mini store was jam-packed with spares & parts for your Classic Minis and our experts were on-hand to offer advice and answer technical questions. Outside our marquee, Mini Sport were once again joined by a mammoth, eclectic display of Minis, totalling nearly 100 cars – including the ‘Top 60’ Minis, along with Competitions Minis from the Mini Sport Cup, customer Minis, a super-rare Mini Ha Ha, a Yamaha Hill Climb Mini and even a Works Mini!

Despite the truly shocking weather the South has offered us this year for shows, we still had a fantastic day – that was extra special for our dear friend Stuart Shaw & his Mini Ha Ha… Stuart & his father Andy Shaw were joined for the day by Andy Saunders, the gentlemen who built this fascinating little Mini & a film crew! Conducting interviews, exploring the Mini & even filming the Ha Ha on the track. The surprises didn’t end there for Stuart, when ArtbyBex arrived to present him with his very own bespoke artwork of his Ha Ha as a birthday gift from his parents.

Mini Sport’s Competition Minis were first out for a taste of the track action, in a fast demonstration lap! This session certainly drew in the crowds, wanting to see the Cup Minis giving it their all – including newly crowned, 2019 Mini Sport Cup Champion, Clive King. Mini Sport also had our very own Top 60 parade session, where all the Minis displayed on our stand had the opportunity to get out on the track and show off!

We had the extremely difficult decision of choosing our Top 3 Minis, chosen from the ‘Top 60’ that had already selected online prior to the event – based on both the Mini & the story behind it. We wanted to find the Minis and the owners with a story to tell, a Mini with character! We’re incredibly proud of the selection we had chosen, our Top 3 were:

Mini Sport 3rd in Show – Robin Pine: 1980 Mini Pick-Up

Mini Sport 2nd in Show – Dave Rippard: 1959 Mk1 Morris Mini

Mini Sport 1st in Show – Kenny Hedges: HLE Mini

All 3 of the owners were delighted to be chosen, with Kenny Hedges adding that, “after 19 years of blood, sweat & tears, I’ve finally won big! The top 60 display at Castle Combe, I’m absolutely blown away. Thank you very much – you’ve made my year!”

It was another smashing, if somewhat soggy, event, so thank you so much to everyone who took the time & braved the torrential rain to come and visit us – what a way to end the year!
