Last weekend once again saw the UK’s oldest, best and only track based Mini Show, Mini Action Day in association with Mini Sport at Castle Combe Circuit in Chippenham, Wiltshire.
Our pop-up Mini store was jam-packed with spares & parts for your Classic Minis and our experts were on-hand to offer advice and answer technical questions. Outside our marquee, Mini Sport were once again joined by a mammoth, eclectic display of Minis, totalling 50 cars – including the ‘Top 25’ Minis, along with Competitions Minis from the Mini Sport Cup, Minis from the Mini Cooper Register, the only 2 Twini Minis in existance, customer Minis, a super-rare Mini Ha Ha, a Mini Miglia and even a Mini Quattro!
Our dear friend Paddy Hopkirk joined us for a couple of hours on the day, to meet & greet with fans, and take part in the exciting new ArtbyBex artwork launch – you can read all about the artwork on our blog here.
Mini Sport’s competition Minis were first out on the track, in a fast demonstration lap! This session certainly drew in the crowds, wanting to see the Cup Minis & Quattro in action. Mini Sport also had our very own parade session, where all the Minis displayed on our stand had the opportunity to get out on the track and show off!
We had the difficult decision of choosing our Top 3 Minis, chosen from the ‘Top 25’ we had already chosen online prior to the event. Approaching this decision in a much different way this year, we searched for not only the Minis who were aesthetically pleasing, but also Minis with character! We wanted to find the Minis and the owners with a story to tell – incredibly proud of the selection we had chosen, we narrowed our Top 3 down to:
3rd in Show – David Thomas: 1967 Morris Mini Traveller
2nd in Show – Robbie Kenning: Cooper Inspired Mini Pickup
1st in Show – Thomas Jordan: 1970 Mk3 Mini 1000 “Flo”
Absolutely overjoyed to be picked, the lucky 3 were presented their awards by Paddy Hopkirk – that was certainly the icing on the cake for our winners, who turned out to actually all be friends already!
It was another smashing event, and thank you so much to everyone who took the time to come and visit us – what a way to end the year!
