The 2nd round of the 2019 HRCR Mini Sport Cup has attracted 17 Minis for the challenging roads over the Epynt Ranges – taking place on May 5th.
The blind crests, narrow roads and no tree lines to follow, with no recce of the stages make this a truly challenging event!
Some of the crews had more work to complete following the 1st round. Harvey Steven’s Mini had sadly hit a tree, which resulted in a new shell for the car – they are now working flat out to finish the build & have not been put off competing.
Another crew requiring work was Clive King – suffering with Gearbox trouble, loosing 3rd and 4th gears on the last stage of the AGBO, but when Mini Sport stripped the engine, they discovered only a bolt holding the Selector Shaft had worked lose.
Craig King had discovered that his new Mini had a high Final Drive – that is more suited to road use, so has changed it to one more suited to rallying.
Shane Gamble has fixed his wiring problems & Paul Price has fit new Drive Shafts following braking one.
After many late nights repairing the Mini for the Agbo, Peter Ellerby found that the new Subframe that had been fit was bent! So another frame was found and fit.
Battle continues between the young guns and the old fathers… What other Championship driving the same model of cars attracts as many fathers and their offspring?
