Congratulations to Ray Cunningham on winning the 2017 HRCR Mintex old STAGER Asphalt Historic Rally Championship and Mini Sport Mini Cup.
Ray Cunningham & Jared Gill were on top form…
Ray Cunningham/Jared Gill ran out winners of the final round, the Keldine Autos Cheviot Stages Rally by 21 seconds from Colin McDowell/Michael Spence to take both the Mintex old STAGER Championship and Mini Sport Mini Cup. 15 Minis made the start line on a damp morning following overnight rain. McDowell immediately went into an early lead pulling out an 11 second lead over Cunningham on the slippery morning stages. However he hit a chicane on stage 9 damaging the steering which slowed them enough for Cunningham to take the lead which he held to the end. Clive King bought his Mini home in 3rd place clinching the runners up spot in both the old STAGER Championship and Mini Sport Mini Cup. See the Dec/Jan old STAGER magazine for the full report.
